You guys bring great points to the table. RANT definitely need to continue to revisit these topics as consoles roll off the assembly line. As a huge video game nerd, I guess I feel a little marginalized by the last generation of consoles, and I fear that this generation might be worse. As Kyle noted, better system specs does not a better experience make. I felt like for the most part the last gen was marred by pretty-looking $60 dollar games with 4 hour campaigns and mediocre multiplayer. I'll probably sit out the first few months of this generation, considering I'm really content with my new PC. I think in order to entice hardcore PC gamers, Microsoft and Sony are going to need to ramp up the Heavy Rain / Gears / Ni No Kuni / MGS quality exclusives and release them rapid-fire like Nintendo. I'm not going to pay +$550 for five good exclusives in a generation. It would also really help to embrace the modding community. I still play games that are almost 5 years old with regularity thanks to vibrant mod communities. As it turns out, nerds will do a lot of work for you for free AND produce better results than the big developers. Sony and Micro have a great opportunity to unlock the potential of mods with their hardware, but I fear they may be too dependent on DLC greedy studios and game engine recyclers like EA to get comfortable with modders.

    R.A.N.T. writers

R.A.N.T. is a blog fueled by intense enthusiasm for notable subjects in the world. Our writers ramble about these topics based on pure opinion, which is better than your opinion, I might add. There is no topic, idea, thought, philosophy, or belief that our team will not tackle.

Rambling About Notable Topics is also in podcast form! Check the blog regularly for audio episodes hosted by Kyle Cicilioni where he and his guests will engage in debates, arguments, and and silly quarrels about a different topic each episode.
