As we all know since a week ago, Letterman is scheduled to leave his position as a late night host in around a year from now. An abundance of questions have been overflowing the tabloids and social media feeds for the past 7 days asking, "who's gonna do it?". Questions no more, for we have our answer just today. Stephen Colbert?
Now I know my fair share of what's going on in the entertainment industry today, I even know who Jimmy Fallon is. But where did this guy come from? I'm sure there are at least a handful of people who know who this man is, but if I don't know who he is, how is anyone else going to be able to know and relate to him?
I thought for sure someone else with experience and credibility would want to take the position or at least be considered for it. George Lopez and Conan have spots on television but surely they would probably prefer a national spot. Leno isn't on Late Night anymore, I'm sure he's looking for work. Another point being, how can we trust this man? Will he be able to entertain the entire United States? As I asked myself these questions, I did some research.
It turns out that this man is a Right Wing extremist!? I'm not biased towards one side or another even if a person is a blood-sucking republican, but an extremist? ...not to mention he blatantly tells his viewers that he's with the Right Wing. I like a good nudge to the president just like anyone else, but if that's his only shtick count me out. I do wish him luck with the new position, though, but there's no way his show would last any longer than a couple of days (a week if he's lucky).
