Here marks two days away from Oscar Sunday. It's almost unbelievable that it was just a year ago that we were looking forward to the Big Sunday. Here's a lesson of the way things used to be for the Oscars back in the day.
1981 Raging Bull - Robert De Nero
Best acting role of the year of 1980, Robert De Niro.
1981 Raging Bull - Thelma Schoonmaker
Best editing of the year of 1980, Thelma Schoonmaker.
1991 Goodfellas - Joe Pesci
Best Supporting actor went to Joe Pesci in Goodfellas.
2005 The Aviator - Cate Blanchett
The Best Supporting Actress this year went to Cate Blanchett.
2005 The Aviator - Robert Richardson
This year, The Best in Cinematography went to Robert Richardson.
2005 The Aviator - Thelma Schoonmaker
Another award for this year was another award to Thelma Schoonmaker for editing another movie for Scorsese for The Aviator.
2005 The Aviator - Dante Ferretti and Francesca Lo Schiavo
Dante Ferretti and Francesca Lo Shiavo won this year for their beautiful Art Direction.
2005 The Aviator - Sandy Powell
Costume design for this year? None other to Sandy Powell of Scorsese's many masterpieces The Aviator.
2006 The Departed - Martin Scorsese
None other than the almighty Scorsese won the Oscar for best picture of the year. It was more than obvious that Scorsese himself would have to win this award for the year.
I'm obviously looking forward to Oscar Sunday, and what better of an Oscar Sunday than a best picture award go to someone who truly deserves it, whether it's someone big or small.
